E-Nam guides you to sell local products in the global market

Samuel Praveen Kumar from Tamil Nadu is the Joint Secretary for Extension, Investment, and Marketing of the Central Department of Agriculture and Agrarian Welfare. A student of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, he has won 3 medals and 4 awards for his research on integrated pest management in eggplant. Selected as the Best Student of the University. Served as General Manager (Commerce) at the Central Warehouse Company (Warehouse), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India. We talked to him about the federal government’s programs for farmers. He shared information about various projects with us. "The Central Ministry of Agriculture and Agrarian Welfare is working towards achieving that goal with the main objective of doubling the income of farmers. The biggest problem among farmers is the inefficiency of the produce. Selling the product locally does not get the right price. They buy and sell the product at the price that the merchants pay. If a farmer earns one rupee from their produce, 70 percent of it goes to the middlemen. The remaining 30 cents are available to farmers.

E- Nam Cooperative farmer organizations

To change this situation, the Central Government is implementing a program called e-Naam (https://www.enam.gov.in/web/). Through it, the local product can be sold in the world market. For example, if a farmer in Andipatti registers on the E-naam website that he has so many tons of drumsticks, leaves, and seeds, the traders who need the material will register a price per person. You can send the product to the dealer whichever price is affordable to the farmer. This will give him a satisfactory price. For that, they need to network as groups. Farmer groups should be cooperative farmer organizations. The Central and State Governments are planning to provide various types of loans, grants, training, and sales opportunities to Agri-producer companies. It should be utilized by the farmers. In today's market environment, it is possible to sell agricultural products on a par with multinational corporations if they become groups and companies rather than individual farmers. The respective state agriculture departments are raising awareness among the farmers in this regard.

E- Nam Scientific agriculture and technology

The target is to create 10,000 agro-manufacturing companies by 2025. As agrarian companies are formed, it will be easier for the members of that organization to carry out cow government programs and modern technologies. Approaching the Department of Agriculture and NABARD in the respective states will guide the formation of Agri-producer companies, ”he said, referring to the need to join groups. “We are bringing scientific agriculture and technology to the farmers. In particular, reducing costs in agriculture increases incomes. Cost-cutting technologies are currently plentiful. The cost is much lower when done in groups than when it is done by an individual farmer. As far as India is concerned there are various special schemes in the field of agriculture. There are various problems in implementing them. The federal government is actively involved in trying to fix them. Recently they have been further intensified. Integrated farms have an important role to play in doubling the income of farmers. In that way, farmers should not only cultivate a single crop but also cultivate livestock such as goats, cows, poultry, duck, turkey, white pig, and fish. Only then will the income increase. We are taking this to the farmers and creating interest in setting up an integrated farm. We are implementing the necessary funding and grants through the state government.

In agriculture, we have a long way to go. For example, if we have to walk 100 km we have come only 50 km. There is no denying that there are still 50 kilometers to walk. At the same time, it should not be taken lightly that we have crossed 50 km. Today's production of agriculture, which started with 50 million tonnes of food production in independent India, has increased to 325 million tonnes. It has to be counted. At the same time, without boasting about what we have achieved, the Indian agricultural sector is still working hard to achieve a lot. Unlike other countries, Indian agriculture varies from state to state, region to region, district to district, climate, cultivation, and crops. It all requires planning and action. Those who cite the example of other countries advancing in agriculture should look at the context there and the Indian context. Israel, for example, uses modern irrigation technology uses 90 percent. India is said to use only 4 percent. But we have to compare the total area of Israel with the total area of India. For example, a district can change 90 percent quickly. However, in one state, 4 percent is more than 90 percent in different states like India, which are full of different time conditions. ''
