This clay pot coolers are designed to cool air through the evaporation of water providing a stable environment to store more fruits and vegetable.
There are three methods of building a clay pot cooler.
Each method requires a pots, Sand, water and a piece of cloth or burlap large enough to cover the inner pot
1. Pot in pot cooler
- Spacing between outer pot and Inner pot is 3 to 5cm.
- The top of Inner pot should be at least 2cm higher than that of the outer pot.
2.Clay pot with plastic basin
- In this method you can use a plastic basin instead of pot and ensure 3cm spacing to be filled with sand.
3.Clay pot in clay dish cooler
The outer clay pot is filled with fine sand.
The Inner clay pot is kept 2cm high.
The sand in outer clay pot should be kept wet by adding water to it.
Fruits and Vegetables should be stored in the Inner clay pot.
Cover the top of the pot with wet cloth
- Sand and the cloth should be wet, if it is dry add water in the sand if it begins to dry up and keep the cloth also wet.
- Store the clay pot in a shady and well-ventilated place.
- should not store in direct sunlight.
- The pot should be kept clean and to be cleaned with sponge or wet rag.
